Hailing from the city of Chicago (and a few of the burbs), Veilside in its' current form has been a force on the Chicago music scene since 2006. Combining influences from across the musical spectrum, Veilside is a modern melodic rock band in the vein of their influences  Shinedown, Black Stone Cherry, and some of the "hair band " era mixed in. In March 2009, the band was named "Best Original Band" by Suburban Nitelife Magazine. Their first EP, "Chapter One" was released in 2008 and to date has sold over 4000 copies. Not resting on their laurels, Veilside once again entered the studio to begin recording a much more ambitious CD titled "This Time..." with producer Chuck Alkazian (Slipknot, Elton John, Cristina Aguilera) at Pearl Sound Studios which was released in 2011. The CD featured 5 new Veilside originals and their popular hard rock cover of the Kansas mega-hit "Dust in the Wind". In May 2013, the band decided to work with Subclass Studios in Chicago to record their highly anticipated 3rd EP "Meanwhile..." which was released in Sept 2013.  The band also worked with producer Joe Tiberi (Mechina) on an acoustic EP titled "Intermission" was released in September 2015.   In 2017, the band went yet again to Apothica Studios to release their first full-length album "Eclipse".  Veilside also won the 2011 "Bandemonium" hosted by 95 WIIL Rock (Kenosha) FM Radio, and has shared the stage with many notable national acts including current powerhouses Five Finger Death Punch, Halestorm, Alter Bridge, Hinder, and Black Stone Cherry, to classic rock acts like Dokken, Nelson, Great White, Sebastian Bach, Warrant, Skid Row, and Lita Ford. Veilside is a very strong supporter of children's charities, having donated time and money to the Kelsey Briggs Foundation Against Child Abuse, Headstones for Angels, and the National SIDS Organization, as well as hosts the annual "Breaking the Silence" Autism Awareness benefit show which raises funds for autism awareness.  Now going on its TENTH year, the event has raised over $116,000 for the cause!

So we haven't posted to the site in awhile, a product of our busy-as-all-get-out schedule and making the new CD, INTERMISSION.  But today, the news just hurts.  We are saddened to report that guitarist Tom Finnelly passed away unexpectedly last night.  Tom was only 44 years old.  He'd been with us for just about one year, and now he's gone.  We're all in shock over this development, and we hope to have more news for everyone soon, but please join us in wishing Tom's family - his wife Laura and two children - our deepest condolences.  We miss him already.....

Gone, but not forgotten.......Thanks, Tom.....

What day is it?

So things have been absolutely hectic here at "Camp Veilside" - our summer show schedule is in full swing, and we've made great progress on our upcoming CD "Intermission"  (seriously, can NOT wait til you hear this!) and in the middle of all of this, drummer Ron Thomas and his wife Jean, along with Dan Engel, lead vocalist Tony Engel's brother stopped at New Horizon Center to make the first donation from our Breaking the Silence event from April.  We are so honored that we were able to make a large donation to the school (really - we were jacked that BTS 1 brought in $1,000!!) and it's extremely humbling to see how this event has grown.  Over 100 bands submitted to share the stage with us and this has become one of the biggest local band shows of the year.

We hope that BTS 8 can be even bigger (although we keep saying "how the heck do we top THAT?"  we keep doing it!).  Hope everyone has an awesome summer and make sure you make it out to catch a Veilside show or three!!  - The guys.

And now for something a little different.....

This year has absolutely blown by!  Our autism awareness fundraiser, Breaking the Silence 7 (7 years?  Already?) raised over $15,000 for the cause, bringing our seven year total to $68,000.  Thank you to all of the amazing bands, volunteers, and fans that came out to support such a wonderful event!  This thing gets bigger every year, and we're honored to be surrounded by such caring people!  Here's a shot from BTS 7

Afterwards, we made a trip out to Jackson, MI to play at The Foundry for a National Kidney Foundation fundraiser and then over to Route 20 Outhouse in Sturtevant, WI to help our friends in Circleswitch kick off their CD release party in style.  Finally, we hit Schaumburg, IL for a Cystic Fibrosis fundraiser.  And now......we're off for the next few weeks to get back to work on our 4th CD.  We pick it back up over Memorial Day weekend as we head to The Back Bar to open the show for BOBAFLEX (and if you haven't heard them, go to youtube and check out their version of the Simon & Garfunkel classic "Sound of Silence").  Hope to see everyone out at a show!!

Been a long time......

Things have been absolutely hectic here at "Camp Veilside".  Last weekend we played at Hollywood Casino Joliet as finalists for a "Battle of the Bands" contest sponsored by classic rock station WLUP (The Loop).  We ended up winning, and will be kicking off one of The Loop's concerts this summer!    Here's a shot of us and Lynsey Marie, WLUP afternoon host.

And now that we're getting into our April schedule, that means BREAKING THE SILENCE time!!  We're excited about a great lineup, but here's a snapshot of our April calendar, so we hope to see you out at a show!!

Waiting for warmer weather!!

So our show schedule has gotten underway, and this past weekend saw two all ages shows, which we absolutely love because it allows our entire families to come out.  We're about a third of the way through the upcoming acoustic disc (which will be called "Intermission") and we're gearing up for the biggest show of the year that we host and headline - Breaking the Silence.  So a lot going on!!  We've had quite a few fans jump on the road with us, and that makes those trips extra special, since funny stories from "the road" have more witnesses!!  We've also got some very cool shows coming up - including opening for "SIster Mary" of Queensryche fame Pamela Moore, Jack Russell's Great White, and Brother Cain's Damon Johnson!!   Here's a shot from the Clearbrook Benefit show at HOME Bar, courtesy of Kasia Olejnik.  Hope to see you guys out at a show, and stay tuned for updates from the recording studio!!

Just back from NAMM

So each year we hit the NAMM Convention in Anaheim, CA to visit with sponsors, friends, and mingle with the rock stars that make the trip out!  Now our schedule starts it's full swing with our Fan Appreciation show this Saturday - come on out!!  NO COVER, and we've got some freebies, goodies, and other info to pass along as well as the bar doing up some fantastic drink specials.  We hope to see you!!  Stay tuned, more BIG news to come!!

2015 in full swing.....

So we just got done playing at Cheers Pub in South Bend, IN this past weekend - what a blast!!  We had quite a few fans and friends with us loud and proud, and we are so thankful for that!!  This week we're heading out to Anaheim, CA for the annual NAMM Convention and then we're gearing up for a special party - our FAN APPRECIATION SHOW - No cover, nothing formal, just Veilside and friends taking over a bar and doing some new songs, some old songs, some covers, and yes, we're going to jam some acoustic and we've got some pretty cool giveaways for some lucky attendees so make plans to hang with us!!

With 2014 just about in the rearview mirror, we were honored and very humbled by the fantastic turnout for our last show of the year at HOME Bar in Arlington Heights.  Thanks for keeping up with us!!  We're looking forward to bigger things in 2015 and we hope YOU will be a part of it!!

Ending another year.....

So the holidays are upon us again, and it seems like time constantly flies by.  Hope everyone has had a wonderful 2014.  Ours saw some ups and downs, but as long as we're ending it on an "up", that's good momentum for next year!  We're back in the studio working on an as-yet-untitled acoustic CD and about half of it is mapped out and the other half still to be written, so we don't anticipate this one coming out until Mar/April but we'll definitely update everyone as to our progress!

Hope you all enjoy the holiday season, and as always, THANK YOU for supporting this band!!

Tony - Ron - Russ - Tom - Cabo

Keepin' on keepin' on.......

Haven't updated in a bit!  We'd been busy with our show schedule and guitar auditions and we're pleased to announce we have a new guitarist - TOM FINNELLY!!
We've only got a few shows left for the year while we get Tom up to speed, and look for a BIG 2015 from Veilside - as we're hoping to get new music out, and a busy schedule to support!!  THANK YOU to all of our fans and friends for being on this journey with us!

We'd like to give a HUGE thanks to David Shankle, formerly of Manowar and currently with DSG for helping us out over the summer, we had a blast rocking with The Shred Demon, and you'll most likely see us on stage with his band soon as he is awaiting the release of his new record "Still A Warrior" on PureSteel Records.  The groundwork is being set........thanks for sticking with us!
